The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. (1) And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." (2) They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision (3) Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them (4) Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. (5) So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, (6) With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, (7) Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. (8) ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. (9) Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" (10) Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. (11) And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. (12) but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, (13) Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. (14) And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? (15) How was then My punishment and My commination! (16) Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? (17) Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! (18) Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, (19) Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. (20) for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! (21) And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? (22)
