The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. (1) But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," (2) They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. (3) Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, (4) Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. (5) Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. (6) with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about (7) Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." (8) ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. (9) so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" (10) We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. (11) And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. (12) And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. (13) That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. (14) And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? (15) How was then My punishment and My commination! (16) And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? (17) 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. (18) Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: (19) Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. (20) Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? (21) And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? (22)
