The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). (1) (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” (2) They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. (3) there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, (4) Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; (5) (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, (6) Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, (7) These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". (8) ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. (9) Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" (10) So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. (11) And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. (12) We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) (13) That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. (14) And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? (15) And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. (16) We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? (17) The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! (18) On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind (19) Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. (20) Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? (21) And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? (22)
