The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. (1) Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; (2) nor does he speak out of his desire. (3) It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. (4) something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: (5) very strong; he stood poised, (6) While he was on the uppermost horizon. (7) and then drew near, and came close, (8) Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, (9) When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. (10) The heart did not deny, what it saw. (The Holy Prophet was bestowed with seeing Allah see also preceding verses 8, 9, 10.) (11) What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? (12) And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. (13) At the farthest lote-tree; (14) Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. (15) When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes (16) The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). (17) Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. (18) Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). (19) and the third one, Manat? -- (20) What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? (21) That, then, is an unjust division. (22) These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. (23) Or shall man have what he wishes? (24) But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. (25)
