The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the star when it sets: (1) your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, (2) nor does he speak out of his own desire. (3) It is a revelations which has been revealed to him (4) and taught to him (5) Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, (6) being on the higher horizon. (7) He (Gabriel) then came nearer and nearer. (8) he was but two bows' length or even nearer, (9) So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. (10) The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: (11) Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? (12) And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. (13) Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], (14) close to the Garden of Refuge. (15) Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) (16) (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! (17) Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. (18) Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, (19) And Manat, the third - the other one? (20) What! for you the males and for Him the females! (21) Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! (22) these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! (23) Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! (24) But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). (25)
