The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it sets: (1) Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; (2) nor speaks he out of caprice. (3) It is not but a revelation revealed, (4) He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, (5) Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); (6) being on the higher horizon. (7) Then he drew near, then he bowed (8) So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him was with body and soul.) (9) And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. (10) The heart did not deny, what it saw. (The Holy Prophet was bestowed with seeing Allah see also preceding verses 8, 9, 10.) (11) So will you dispute with him over what he saw? (12) Indeed, he saw him in another descent (13) By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, (14) Near it is the Garden of Abode. (15) When the tree was covered with a covering, (16) The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. (17) For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! (18) So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? (19) and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? (20) What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? (21) That indeed is a division most unfair! (22) They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. (23) Is the human to have whatever he fancies? (24) But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. (25)
