The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Thereafter he drew nigh, then he let himself down. 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him was with body and soul.) 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
