The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The heart [of the Prophet] did not misconstrue what he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
