The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it plunges, (1) Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, (2) nor does he speak out of his desire. (3) This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, (4) He has been taught (this Quran) by one mighty in power [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. (5) Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm (6) While he was in the highest part of the horizon: (7) He (Gabriel) then came nearer and nearer. (8) So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him was with body and soul.) (9) then revealed to his servant that he revealed. (10) His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. (11) Will you then argue with him about what he saw? (12) Indeed he saw him a second time, (13) Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: (14) Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. (15) When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! (16) The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). (17) Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). (18) Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza (19) And another, the third (goddess), Manat? (20) Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? (21) That is indeed an unjust division. (22) They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. (23) Is the human to have whatever he fancies? (24) And to God belongs the First and the Last. (25)
