The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the star of the pleiades when it has dipped (1) Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. (2) nor does he speak out of his desire. (3) It is naught but revelation that is revealed, (4) The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, (5) The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. (6) While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. (7) then drew near and suspended hung, (8) And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; (9) And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. (10) The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. (11) Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. (12) And certainly he saw him in another descent, (13) by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, (14) by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, (15) When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. (16) The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. (17) Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. (18) Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza (19) and Manat the third, the other? (20) Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: (21) That indeed is a division unfair! (22) They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. (23) Or shall man have what he wishes? (24) All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. (25)
