62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the declining star, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 taught him by one terrible in power, 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Then he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] approached and came closer, 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 Thus He revealed unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all the Hereafter and this world. 25
