The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it sets: (1) This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, (2) nor does he speak out of his own desire. (3) Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, (4) He was taught by one Mighty in Power, (5) The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. (6) being on the higher horizon. (7) then he drew near, and became close (8) until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer (9) And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. (10) The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. (11) What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? (12) And indeed, he saw him a second time (13) At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - (14) near which is Paradise. (15) When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; (16) Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. (17) He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. (18) Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, (19) And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? (20) What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? (21) That indeed is a division most unfair! (22) They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. (23) Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, (24) And to God belongs the First and the Last. (25)
