The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, (1) This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, (2) nor speaks he out of caprice. (3) Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, (4) The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, (5) One strong of make. Then he stood straight. (6) being on the higher horizon, (7) Then he drew near, then he bowed (8) So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him was with body and soul.) (9) then revealed to his servant that he revealed. (10) The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. (11) What! So do you dispute with him regarding what he saw? (12) And he certainly saw him in another descent (13) Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. (14) Near it is the Garden of Abode. (15) (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. (16) (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. (17) Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. (18) Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, (19) And another, the third (goddess), Manat? (20) Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: (21) that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! (22) They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. (23) What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? (24) But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. (25)
