The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it descends, (1) your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, (2) nor does he speak out of his own desire. (3) This is only revelation communicated, (4) He was taught by one Mighty in Power, (5) Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, (6) And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. (7) then drew near and suspended hung, (8) until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. (9) So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. (10) The heart [of the Prophet] did not misconstrue what he saw. (11) What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! (12) And certainly he saw him descend a second time: (13) Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. (14) near which is Paradise. (15) When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! (16) His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. (17) Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. (18) Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, (19) And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? (20) What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? (21) Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! (22) They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. (23) Shall man have whatever he craves? (24) But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. (25)
