The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. (1) your comrade is not astray, neither errs, (2) nor does he speak out of desire. (3) It is naught but revelation that is revealed, (4) taught him by one terrible in power, (5) one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, (6) being on the higher horizon, (7) Then he drew nigh and came down (8) he was but two bows' length or even nearer, (9) then revealed to his servant that he revealed. (10) The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. (11) Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. (12) And certainly he saw him descend a second time: (13) By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, (14) Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. (15) When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! (16) (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! (17) Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). (18) So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? (19) and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? (20) Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? (21) Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! (22) They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. (23) Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? (24) All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. (25)
