The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the declining star, (1) your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; (2) nor does he speak out of his desire. (3) This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, (4) He was taught by one Mighty in Power, (5) One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form (6) And reached the highest pinnacle. (7) Then he approached and came closer, (8) until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. (9) Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. (10) The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. (11) So will you dispute with him over what he saw? (12) He saw Him indeed another time (13) By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, (14) close to the Garden of Refuge. (15) When that which covers covered the lote-tree; (16) The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. (17) Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. (18) Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza (19) and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? (20) What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? (21) That indeed is an unfair division -- (22) They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. (23) Is the human to have whatever he fancies? (24) To God belong the End and the Beginning. (25)
