The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. (1) Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, (2) Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. (3) Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, (4) taught by One who is Stern in power. (5) The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, (6) appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, (7) Then he approached and came closer, (8) And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, (9) And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. (10) The heart lied not in that which he saw. (11) what, will you dispute with him what he sees? (12) Indeed he saw him a second time, (13) by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, (14) close to the Garden of Refuge. (15) When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; (16) his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. (17) Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). (18) (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, (19) And Manat, the third, the other? (20) Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: (21) That is indeed an unfair division! (22) They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. (23) What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? (24) Allah's is the last and the first. (25)
