The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. (1) That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, (2) Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. (3) This is only revelation communicated, (4) Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, (5) The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. (6) And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. (7) He (Gabriel) then came nearer and nearer. (8) until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. (9) so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). (10) The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. (11) Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? (12) And certainly he saw him in another descent, (13) By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, (14) nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, (15) When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes (16) (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! (17) truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. (18) So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? (19) And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? (20) What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? (21) Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! (22) these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! (23) Is the human to have whatever he fancies? (24) But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). (25)
