The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it plunges, (1) Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. (2) Nor does he speak out of desire. (3) It is a revelations which has been revealed to him (4) He was taught by one Mighty in Power, (5) by the great mighty one (Gabriel), (6) And he is in the highest part of the horizon. (7) Then he drew near and drew closer (8) until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer (9) Thus He revealed unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. (10) The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. (11) Will you dispute with him what he saw? (12) For indeed he saw him at a second descent, (13) to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) (14) near which is Paradise. (15) When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. (16) The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. (17) He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. (18) Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). (19) And Manat, the third, the other? (20) Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? (21) That, then, is an unjust division. (22) These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. (23) Can the human being have whatever he wishes? (24) To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. (25)
