The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER this unfolding [of God's message,] as it comes down from on high! (1) Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. (2) Nor does he speak out of desire. (3) It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. (4) The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, (5) The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, (6) When he was on the uppermost horizon. (7) then he drew near, and became close (8) until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer (9) So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. (10) His heart did not falsify what he perceived. (11) So will you dispute with him over what he saw? (12) And certainly he saw him in another descent, (13) to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) (14) near which is the Garden of Abode. (15) When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes (16) The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. (17) Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. (18) (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, (19) And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? (20) What! for you the males and for Him the females! (21) This is certainly an unjust apportioning. (22) These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. (23) Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! (24) Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). (25)
