The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it descends, (1) Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. (2) nor speaks he out of caprice. (3) This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, (4) He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. (5) Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); (6) being on the higher horizon. (7) Then he drew near, then he bowed (8) And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; (9) then revealed to his servant that he revealed. (10) His heart did not falsify what he perceived. (11) will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? (12) And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. (13) Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. (14) near which is the Garden of Abode. (15) when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; (16) His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. (17) Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. (18) So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? (19) And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? (20) Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: (21) This is certainly an unjust apportioning. (22) They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. (23) Or shall man have whatever he fancies? (24) To God belong the End and the Beginning. (25)
