The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the declining star, (1) Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; (2) nor does he speak out of his desire. (3) It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: (4) He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. (5) by the great mighty one (Gabriel), (6) And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. (7) Then he drew near and drew closer (8) So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. (9) and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. (10) His heart added no untruth to what he saw. (11) What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? (12) Indeed, he saw him another time (13) By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, (14) Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. (15) When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, (16) The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. (17) Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. (18) HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, (19) And another, the third (goddess), Manat? (20) What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? (21) That indeed is a division unfair! (22) these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! (23) Can the human being have whatever he wishes? (24) Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. (25)
