The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. (1) your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; (2) Nor does he speak out of desire. (3) This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, (4) He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. (5) The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. (6) While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. (7) Then he approached and descended (8) Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. (9) so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). (10) The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: (11) Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. (12) For indeed he saw him at a second descent, (13) By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, (14) Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. (15) When the tree was covered with a covering, (16) The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. (17) He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. (18) Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, (19) and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? (20) What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? (21) Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! (22) They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. (23) Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? (24) Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). (25)
