The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, (1) Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. (2) Nor does he speak out of desire. (3) It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. (4) Taught to him by one intense in strength - (5) by the great mighty one (Gabriel), (6) standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, (7) Then he approached and descended (8) until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. (9) then revealed to his servant that he revealed. (10) The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. (11) Will you dispute with him what he saw? (12) And assuredly he saw him at another descent. (13) Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. (14) near which is Paradise. (15) with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour (16) Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. (17) Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). (18) Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, (19) and Manat the third, the other? (20) What, have you males, and He females? (21) This is certainly an unjust apportioning. (22) These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. (23) Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? (24) But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. (25)
