The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the declining star, (1) your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; (2) nor speaks he out of caprice. (3) It is naught but revelation that is revealed, (4) taught by One who is Stern in power. (5) The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, (6) While he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] was in the highest part of the horizon, (7) Then he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] approached and came closer, (8) Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, (9) He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. (10) The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. (11) what, will you dispute with him what he sees? (12) Indeed, he saw him another time (13) By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, (14) near which is the Garden of Abode. (15) When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. (16) The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). (17) Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. (18) So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? (19) And another, the third (goddess), Manat? (20) What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? (21) Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! (22) these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! (23) What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? (24) But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. (25)
