The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- (1) Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. (2) nor speaks he out of caprice. (3) It is only an Inspiration that is inspired. (4) He was taught by one Mighty in Power, (5) [an angel] endowed with surpassing power, who in time manifested himself in his true shape and nature, (6) And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. (7) Then he drew near, then he bowed (8) And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; (9) so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). (10) The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: (11) Will you dispute with him what he saw? (12) He saw Him indeed another time (13) Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. (14) Near it is the Garden of Abode. (15) When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! (16) The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. (17) Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. (18) Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, (19) And Manat, the third - the other one? (20) What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? (21) Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! (22) These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. (23) Or is there for man whatever he wishes? (24) Allah's is the last and the first. (25)
