The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, (1) your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; (2) and neither does he speak out of his own desire: (3) It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: (4) The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, (5) One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form (6) While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. (7) Then he drew near and hung above suspended, (8) until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. (9) then revealed to his servant that he revealed. (10) The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. (11) Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? (12) And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). (13) by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary (14) close to the Garden of Refuge. (15) with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour (16) (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. (17) Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. (18) Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: (19) And Manat, the third, the last? (20) Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? (21) That is indeed an unjust division. (22) They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! (23) Or is there for man whatever he wishes? (24) So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all the Hereafter and this world. (25)
