The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it goes down,- (1) your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, (2) And he speaketh not of his own desire. (3) It is naught but revelation that is revealed, (4) Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, (5) Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, (6) And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. (7) Then he drew near and drew closer (8) until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. (9) And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. (10) His heart added no untruth to what he saw. (11) Will you then argue with him about what he saw? (12) And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. (13) by the lote tree beyond which none may pass (14) close to the Garden of Refuge. (15) When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. (16) The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. (17) Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. (18) So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? (19) And subsequently the third, the Manat? (20) Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? (21) Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! (22) They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. (23) Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, (24) To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. (25)
