The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it setteth. (1) That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, (2) And he does not say anything by his own desire. (3) Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, (4) He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. (5) The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, (6) And he is in the highest part of the horizon. (7) Then he drew near and hung above suspended, (8) until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. (9) So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. (10) His heart lies not of what he saw; (11) Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? (12) And he certainly saw him in another descent (13) Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. (14) close to the Garden of Refuge. (15) When the tree was covered with a covering, (16) his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. (17) truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. (18) Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). (19) and the third one, Manat? -- (20) Are yours the males and His the females? (21) That indeed is a division most unfair! (22) They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! (23) Shall man have whatever he craves? (24) Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). (25)
