The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the star when it plunges, (1) Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. (2) and neither does he speak out of his own desire: (3) It is a revelations which has been revealed to him (4) He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. (5) Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); (6) while he was in the highest horizon; (7) Then he drew near, then he bowed (8) he was but two bows' length or even nearer, (9) When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. (10) His heart did not falsify what he perceived. (11) will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? (12) Indeed he saw him a second time, (13) At the farthest lote-tree; (14) Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, (15) When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, (16) His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. (17) for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. (18) Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, (19) And subsequently the third, the Manat? (20) Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: (21) That is indeed an unfair division! (22) These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. (23) Or shall man have whatever he fancies? (24) But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. (25)
