The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, (1) your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, (2) nor does he speak out of desire. (3) It is a revelations which has been revealed to him (4) He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, (5) One strong of make. Then he stood straight. (6) standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, (7) Then he drew near and drew closer (8) And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. (9) And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. (10) The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: (11) Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? (12) And certainly he saw him in another descent, (13) Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], (14) by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, (15) When that which covers covered the lote-tree; (16) His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, (17) and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. (18) So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? (19) And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? (20) Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? (21) That is indeed an unjust division. (22) They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. (23) Or shall man have whatever he fancies? (24) But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. (25)
