The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 and taught to him 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he approached and descended 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
