The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, (1) Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. (2) nor does he speak out of desire. (3) This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, (4) He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, (5) Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm (6) appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, (7) then he drew near, and became close (8) Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, (9) And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. (10) The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. (11) Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? (12) And assuredly he saw him at another descent. (13) Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. (14) close to the Garden of Refuge. (15) When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. (16) Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. (17) Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). (18) Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: (19) And another, the third (goddess), Manat? (20) What, have you males, and He females! (21) That indeed were an unfair division! (22) They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. (23) What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? (24) Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). (25)
