The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, (1) your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. (2) And he does not say anything by his own desire. (3) This is naught but a revelation revealed, (4) The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, (5) One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form (6) while he was in the highest horizon; (7) then drew near and suspended hung, (8) Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, (9) And thus did [God] reveal unto His servant whatever He deemed right to reveal. (10) The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. (11) will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? (12) And assuredly he saw him at another descent. (13) By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, (14) near unto the garden of promise. (15) (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. (16) The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. (17) For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! (18) Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza (19) as well as [in] Manat, the third and last [of this triad]? (20) Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? (21) This is an unfair distinction! (22) They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. (23) Or shall man have what he coveteth? (24) Allah's is the last and the first. (25)
