The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it descends, (1) your comrade is not astray, neither errs, (2) nor does he speak out of desire. (3) It is naught but revelation that is revealed, (4) He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, (5) One strong of make. Then he stood straight. (6) while he was in the highest horizon; (7) He (Gabriel) then came nearer and nearer. (8) Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. (9) and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. (10) His heart added no untruth to what he saw. (11) What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! (12) He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent (13) by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, (14) near which is the Garden of Abode. (15) when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. (16) Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. (17) He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. (18) Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: (19) And Manat, the third, the last? (20) Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? (21) That indeed were an unfair division! (22) They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. (23) Can ever man get what he desires? (24) To God belong the End and the Beginning. (25)
