The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it plunges, (1) Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. (2) nor does he speak out of his own desire. (3) It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. (4) Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, (5) One vigorous; and he grew clear to view (6) being on the higher horizon. (7) Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. (8) until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. (9) So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. (10) His heart did not falsify what he perceived. (11) Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? (12) He saw Him indeed another time (13) by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary (14) Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. (15) When the tree was covered with a covering, (16) The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. (17) For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! (18) (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, (19) And Manat, the third, the other? (20) Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? (21) That is indeed an unjust division. (22) These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. (23) Or shall man have what he wishes? (24) Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). (25)
