The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- (1) Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; (2) Nor does he speak out of desire. (3) It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. (4) He was taught by one Mighty in Power, (5) Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); (6) the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. (7) Then he drew near and drew closer (8) And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. (9) So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. (10) The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. (11) Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? (12) And assuredly he saw him at another descent. (13) By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, (14) near which is the Garden of Abode. (15) when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; (16) His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. (17) Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. (18) HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, (19) and Manat the third, the other? (20) What! for you the males and for Him the females! (21) That were indeed an unjust division. (22) They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. (23) Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, (24) So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all the Hereafter and this world. (25)
