The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the star of the pleiades when it has dipped (1) your comrade is not astray, neither errs, (2) Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. (3) Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, (4) The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, (5) Dhu Mirrah (free from any defect in body and mind), Fastawa [then he (Jibrael - Gabriel) rose and became stable]. [Tafsir At-Tabari]. (6) appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, (7) Then he drew near, then he bowed (8) until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. (9) When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. (10) The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. (11) Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? (12) And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. (13) Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. (14) Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. (15) When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes (16) The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. (17) Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. (18) (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, (19) And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? (20) Are yours the males and His the females? (21) That indeed is a division unfair! (22) They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. (23) Shall man have whatever he craves? (24) But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. (25)
