The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it plunges, (1) Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. (2) nor does he speak out of his desire. (3) It is a revelations which has been revealed to him (4) Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, (5) by the great mighty one (Gabriel), (6) And reached the highest pinnacle. (7) and then drew near, and came close, (8) until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer (9) so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). (10) The heart [of the Prophet] did not misconstrue what he saw. (11) Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? (12) And verily he saw him yet another time (13) By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, (14) near unto the garden of promise. (15) When that which covers covered the lote-tree; (16) The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). (17) He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. (18) So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? (19) and, another, the third manat? (20) What! For you the son, and for Him the daughter? (21) This is certainly an unjust apportioning. (22) They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. (23) Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? (24) So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all the Hereafter and this world. (25)
