The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the mount (1) And the Book written (2) In parchment spread open (3) By the much-frequented Fane; (4) and by the lofty vault of the sky, (5) and the sea swarming, (6) Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; (7) There is none that can ward it off. (8) [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, (9) And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. (10) woe that day unto those that cry lies, (11) Those who are playing in pursuits. (12) The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, (13) 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! (14) “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” (15) Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". (16) Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, (17) rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. (18) They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". (19) (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. (20) Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. (21) And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: (22) They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. (23) ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. (24) And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. (25) Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” (26) But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: (27) "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" (28)
