The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, (1) and a Book inscribed (2) On fine parchment unrolled, (3) And by oath of the Inhabited House. (4) by the high ceiling (heaven), (5) By the sea overflowing. (6) the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, (7) there is none to prevent it. (8) On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. (9) And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. (10) Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- (11) and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. (12) The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], (13) (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! (14) Then is this magic, or do you not see? (15) Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” (16) Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, (17) rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. (18) "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." (19) They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. (20) And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. (21) And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. (22) They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. (23) ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. (24) They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, (25) Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. (26) But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: (27) before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." (28)
