The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount, (1) And by oath of a passage, written (2) In parchment spread open (3) By the much-frequented Fane; (4) By the roof elevated. (5) And the swollen sea (6) The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. (7) There shall be none to avert it; (8) On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, (9) And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. (10) On that Day woe to those who belied (11) and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). (12) on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] (13) This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. (14) Is it magic or do you not still see? (15) Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." (16) Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. (17) enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. (18) "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," (19) Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. (20) And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. (21) We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. (22) They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. (23) ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. (24) And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. (25) "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- (26) But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. (27) Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." (28)
