The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. (1) By the book inscribed. (2) on unrolled parchment, (3) By the House Frequented. (4) The roof raised high, (5) and by the swelling sea, (6) Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; (7) there is none who could avert it. (8) On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. (9) and the mountains quickly move. (10) woe that day unto those that cry lies, (11) and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. (12) The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. (13) "This is the Fire which you used to deny. (14) Is this magic or do you not see? (15) “Enter it now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” (16) But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, (17) rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, (18) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." (19) They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. (20) And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. (21) And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: (22) There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). (23) ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. (24) They will go to one another asking each other questions: (25) saying, "We were afraid while in the world. (26) “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” (27) Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. (28)
