The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, (1) And by oath of a passage, written (2) in an exposed parchment (3) by the much-visited House, (4) By the Canopy Raised High; (5) and the sea swarming, (6) The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. (7) there is none who could avert it. (8) Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily (9) The mountains move and fly away, (10) Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, (11) all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain (12) On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. (13) 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! (14) Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! (15) Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. (16) Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, (17) Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. (18) "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," (19) The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. (20) And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. (21) We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. (22) They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. (23) ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. (24) They will turn to one another ask questions, (25) 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, (26) But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. (27) Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' (28)
