The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. (1) and by the Book in lines (2) on unrolled parchment, (3) And the House frequented, (4) And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). (5) And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). (6) the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, (7) none can avert that. (8) On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion (9) and the mountains move, moving. (10) Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- (11) Those who sport entering into vain discourses. (12) The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. (13) (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. (14) Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? (15) “Enter it now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” (16) Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, (17) Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. (18) 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. (19) reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. (20) And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. (21) And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: (22) There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. (23) ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. (24) They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. (25) They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. (26) But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. (27) Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' (28)
