The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount (1) by the book (Torah) written (2) On fine parchment unrolled, (3) by the House inhabited (4) and the roof uplifted (5) and the sea that is full (6) Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. (7) There is none who could avert it. (8) Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily (9) And the mountains will move with a visible movement. (10) Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth (11) Who play in talk of grave matters; (12) the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: (13) “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” (14) Is it magic or do you not still see? (15) Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. (16) [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. (18) (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." (19) They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. (20) And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. (21) And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: (22) They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. (23) ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. (24) They will go to one another asking each other questions: (25) They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. (26) "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. (27) Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. (28)
