The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (1) By the book inscribed. (2) In a Scroll unfolded; (3) And [by] the frequented House (4) And the elevated canopy (5) And the swollen sea, (6) Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- (7) there is none to prevent it. (8) On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, (9) and the mountains are in motion, (10) Then woe that day unto the deniers (11) who divert themselves with idle chatter: (12) On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. (13) "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! (14) Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! (15) Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." (16) Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss (17) rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. (18) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." (19) Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. (20) Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. (21) And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. (22) There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, (23) ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. (24) They will go to one another asking each other questions: (25) They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. (26) But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. (27) we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' (28)
