The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount; (1) And by oath of a passage, written (2) In parchment unrolled. (3) by the Visited House, (4) And the elevated canopy (5) and the sea that is full (6) surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; (7) none can avert that. (8) The day the sky will tremble, (9) and the mountains shudder and shake. (10) Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers (11) Those who sport entering into vain discourses. (12) The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. (13) “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” (14) Then is this magic, or do you not see? (15) Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." (16) Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss (17) rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. (18) "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," (19) reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. (20) And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. (21) And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. (22) They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. (23) ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. (24) And some of them draw near to others, questioning. (25) Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” (26) and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; (27) "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" (28)
