The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount (1) and the Book inscribed (2) On a parchment scroll unrolled, (3) By the House Frequented. (4) By the roof elevated. (5) And the swollen sea (6) Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. (7) There is none that can avert it; (8) On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. (9) The mountains move and fly away, (10) Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, (11) Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. (12) The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. (13) "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! (14) Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? (15) Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." (16) Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. (17) Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. (18) “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” (19) They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. (20) Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. (21) And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. (22) and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. (23) ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. (24) They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, (25) They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, (26) But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. (27) Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." (28)
