The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount (Sinai), (1) by the book (Torah) written (2) On fine parchment unrolled, (3) The house ever-peopled, (4) And the roof exalted, (5) By the sea overflowing. (6) verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, (7) Of it there is no averter. (8) On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. (9) And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, (10) On that Day woe to those who belied (11) and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). (12) A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. (13) "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! (14) Is this magic or do you not see? (15) Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." (16) [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. (18) [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." (19) Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. (20) And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. (21) And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. (22) They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. (23) ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. (24) And some of them draw near to others, questioning. (25) They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). (26) "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. (27) we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' (28)
