The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount (Sinai), (1) And by oath of a passage, written (2) In an outstretched fine parchment, (3) And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, (4) by the high ceiling (heaven), (5) By the sea overflowing. (6) Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; (7) there is none who could avert it. (8) On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, (9) and the mountains move, moving. (10) Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth (11) That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. (12) on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] (13) "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! (14) Is this magic, or do you not see? (15) "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." (16) Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, (17) Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. (18) “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” (19) reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. (20) And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. (21) And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. (22) while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, (23) ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. (24) And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. (25) "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- (26) Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. (27) Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" (28)
