The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, (1) and the Book inscribed (2) In parchment unrolled. (3) And by oath of the Inhabited House. (4) by the high ceiling (heaven), (5) and by the swelling sea: (6) Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; (7) No one can avert it. (8) On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, (9) And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. (10) So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. (11) all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain (12) On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): (13) This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. (14) Is it magic then or do you not see? (15) Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". (16) [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. (18) They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". (19) They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. (20) And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. (21) And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. (22) They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. (23) ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. (24) And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. (25) Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” (26) and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; (27) “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” (28)
