The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. (1) And the Book written (2) In parchment unrolled. (3) By the much-frequented Fane; (4) and by the lofty vault of the sky, (5) and by the swelling ocean, (6) Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; (7) Of it there is no averter. (8) [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, (9) and the mountains are in motion, (10) Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- (11) Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. (12) The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. (13) (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! (14) Then is this magic, or do you not see? (15) Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' (16) Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, (17) Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. (18) Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, (19) Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. (20) We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. (21) And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. (22) and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. (23) ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. (24) They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. (25) "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- (26) "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. (27) We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". (28)
