The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), (1) And by oath of a passage, written (2) On fine parchment unrolled, (3) By the House Frequented. (4) And the lofty roof. (5) By the sea overflowing. (6) Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. (7) Of it there is no averter. (8) On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. (9) And the mountains will pass on, departing - (10) woe that day unto those that cry lies, (11) all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain (12) on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] (13) "This is the Fire which you used to deny. (14) Is this magic or do you not see? (15) Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' (16) As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- (17) Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. (18) 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. (19) They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. (20) And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. (21) We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. (22) They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. (23) ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. (24) And they will advance unto each other asking questions. (25) They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, (26) But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: (27) Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." (28)
