The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), (1) By the book inscribed. (2) In parchment unrolled. (3) And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, (4) And the lofty roof. (5) and by the swelling ocean, (6) surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, (7) there is none to avert it. (8) [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, (9) And the mountains will fly hither and thither. (10) Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, (11) those who are in plunging, playing. (12) on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] (13) “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” (14) “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” (15) Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' (16) Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, (17) enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. (18) (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” (19) They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. (20) The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. (21) And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. (22) There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). (23) ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. (24) They will go to one another asking each other questions: (25) Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” (26) But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: (27) We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. (28)
