The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the mount (1) Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed (2) on fine parchment; (3) And the House frequented, (4) by the elevated canopy; (5) And the swollen sea, (6) Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls (7) Of it there is no preventer. (8) A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. (9) And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. (10) Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers (11) Those who in wading sport themselves. (12) on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. (13) This is the Fire which you used to belie. (14) Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! (15) Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” (16) [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, (17) Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. (18) "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." (19) Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. (20) And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. (21) We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. (22) There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, (23) ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. (24) And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, (25) Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” (26) "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. (27) "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." (28)
