The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount (Sinai), (1) And a Scripture inscribed (2) on wide-open scrolls. (3) by the House inhabited (4) And the roof exalted, (5) and by the swelling ocean, (6) Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. (7) There is none can avert it;- (8) Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily (9) And the mountains will fly hither and thither. (10) On that Day woe to those who belied (11) Those who in wading sport themselves. (12) On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): (13) This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. (14) Is it magic, or you cannot see? (15) Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. (16) Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, (17) Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. (18) Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. (19) They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. (20) And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. (21) And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. (22) There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, (23) ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. (24) They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, (25) They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. (26) but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. (27) Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" (28)
